Human Resources Manager in Columbia, SC

Located in Lexington County, we are proud to be an integral partner in one of the fastest growing communities in South Carolina. We are centrally located to many of the state's top destinations with Lake Murray nestled in our backyard. Our team has been manufacturing premium tires for passenger and light truck vehicles since 1981. Our facility is over 3 football fields in length, employs more than 1,600 team members and holds a variety of complex tire building machinery. Our US5 Columbia plant is a fast-paced environment with a passion for progress, serving both Original Equipment & Replacement market customers. One of the largest tire production facilities in North America, US5 includes different tire-building processes, making it a very flexible manufacturing operation.

Mission

Responsible for building positive relationships with internal business partners to diagnose talent and human resource needs based on business requirements, and participating in the development, the integration and the execution of our human resource strategy and ensuring the alignment to the overarching business strategy. This includes anticipating and analyzing problems, developing and implementing solutions, collaborating with business leadership and influencing business strategy.

This role develops and implements Human Resources solutions that drive overall business performance and employee engagement. Operational responsibilities include mentoring to managers in the handling of employee relations, recruiting, selection, career development, succession planning, talent management, leadership development, legal compliance, safety, training, process improvement, diversity, performance management and general HR management.

Responsibilities

On a defined scope of teams, ensure the role of development partner for people, teams, and their manager to contribute to their development. To fulfil this mission, this role must:

  • Foster the development of employees, managers, and teams to optimize the individual and collective performance in the short- and long-term horizons.
  • Be the guarantor of the Human Resources policies, management quality, and conformity to the internal rules, and legal regulation.

Key expected achievements

  • Drives strategies, processes, and solutions focused on leading through employee issues, both proactively and as they occur within the organization, ensuring appropriate levels of governance and due diligence to mitigate risk and increasing workforce performance.
  • Collaborates with key leaders and partners across the organization with a continuous improvement approach, sharing opportunities to better support the employee experience, including professional development and talent management
  • Supports employees on their professional path and/or competency development, including timely professional mobility between departments and facilities
  • Critical jobs and positions are staffed on time through active management of succession pools and succession plans and competencies
  • Coach and mentor managers to improve their managerial quality and contribute to their development
  • Ensures personnel policies, external and internal rules are respected, following regulations. Employees have confidence all recourse cases are treated completely and fairly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with previous hands-on Human Resources experience
  • High motivation and energy with proven communication skills in a general HR role in industry, preferably manufacturing
  • Ability to interact and engage directly with wage and salary employees across general HR administration topics
