Mechanical Design/Project Engineer (Experienced Level Professional)

As a Mechanical Design/Project Engineer, you will carry out studies with challenged and validated specifications while the possible solutions are evaluated from the point of view of costs, deadlines, risks, functional choice criteria.  Project landmarks are obtained after the phases of realization, installation, start-up and development of the equipment made in collaboration with related professions of the industry.

Specific position requirements:

  • Provide Mechanical Engineering design for assigned projects per specifications, mechanical parts, assembly and schematic drawings, layout drawings, component specification, sizing and selection, bill of materials and complete machine documentation package of machine dossier.
  • Respect Michelin mechanical design standards in all equipment designs.
  • Create budget estimates and bid packages on assigned projects.
  • Provide project documentation: mechanical designs, technical offer, safety risk assessment, maintenance and operator training documents and machine manuals.
  • Facilitate the procurement of equipment and material for assigned projects.
  • Provide equipment acceptance inspections on equipment.
  • Management of mechanical contractors or maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications & machine installations through start-up and commissioning.
  • Project support, especially during installation, start-up and ramp up phases including implementation schedules during holydays and shutdowns.

Mechanical engineering technical skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education and experience.
  • Preferred at least 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design standards: OSHA, ASME, ANSI, ISO, etc.
  • Mechanical design tools: SOLIDWORKS is required, Auto CAD or DraftSight 2D is preferred.
  • Experience with document management system is preferred.
  • Experience with mechanics of materials, stress analysis and FEA is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulics, piping and fitting is required.
  • Experience of lifting devices, cranes and jibs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sizing and selection of motor-reducer combinations including servo systems is required.
  • Knowledge of advanced technologies in robotics and  AGV is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office apps (Excel, Word, Project, Power Point, Teams)
  • Knowledge of factory utility infrastructure (Sanitary, Water, Steam, Air, Power house..)
