Electrical Engineer (Experienced Level Professional)

The Electrical Engineer position provides reliability engineering services for the site. This includes the following:

  • Provide electrical support for maintenance and reliability activities involving electrical distribution systems, generators, UPS, and any other electrical support needed for site operations.
  • Lead work performed on these systems (Michelin or contract personnel).
  • Provide technical assistance to ensure compliance with site standards and the National Electrical Code.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the effort in maintaining and improving the site electrical distribution systems (120V – 13.8kV), which includes inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide the electrical engineering expertise for maintaining, upgrading, and modifying the site’s low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Maintain the electrical distribution system documentation in an electronic format that is accessible to the site instrument/electrical technicians.
  • Create asset maintenance strategies and procedures for all electrical infrastructure equipment including backup power equipment using Criticality Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Provide guidance to the electrical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance, and installation of low and medium volage electrical equipment including problem-solving and troubleshooting to help support plant operations.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on repeating electrical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to lower likelihood of recurrence.
  • Lead the electrical portion of plant shutdowns (switchgear and breaker maintenance) including identification of work, planning/scheduling/coordination of work with each Business Unit, and supervising the electrical distribution maintenance contractors. 
  • Develop and document standards for motors and other electrical equipment.  Have knowledge of motor installation, best practices, troubleshooting, and maintenance including variable frequency drives.    
  • Have knowledge and understanding of NFPA; National Electric Code; IEEE

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science - Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with electrical distribution systems including substations, transformers, circuit breakers, feeders, protective relaying MCCs, motors, and VFDs.
  • Ability to specify equipment and interpret and apply NEC/NFPA standards
  • Must have strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
