MISSION:
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for automation / controls engineering and investment projects at the Emporia Manufacturing Facility. They will assist management with project pre-studies in the electrical engineering and automation field.
Projects will be manufacturing process controls in nature to include conveyor systems, steel preparations, track and wheel building, rubber curing, final finish equipment, robotics, etc.
EXPECTATIONS:
Provide full-time engineering resources relating to:
1. Automation Engineering design for assigned projects.
2. Respect for Michelin electrical design standards and PLC programming methodology in equipment designs.
3. Creation of project documentation as required: electrical designs, programs, technical offers, safety risk assessment, maintenance & operator training documents and user manuals, etc.
4. Facilitation of emulation and simulation activities for assigned projects.
5. Providing equipment acceptance inspections during factory acceptance testing and installation.
6. Providing management of electrical supplier or maintenance installation teams during equipment installations through start-up and commissioning.
7. Interfacing with Plant production & maintenance customers, other engineers, and suppliers to complete equipment acceptance criteria.
8. Providing training on new equipment or modifications to plant engineering, maintenance, and operations.
9. Providing automation technical support for troubleshooting plant equipment breakdowns if necessary.
Specific automation engineering skills required
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Associates degree with equivalent technical experience
2. Preferred 5+ years of automation engineering experience
3. Experience with electrical and controls design
4. Rockwell ControlLogix, PLC5, SLC, WAGO, and Panelview technologies
5. Robotic experience is preferred, but not required. Specific experience with Fanuc or robots is a plus.
